Mansa Devi: Mansa Devi Temple is one of the Sidhpeeths (with Chandi Devi and Maya Devi), located at Bilwa Parvat near Haridwar. It is one of the most revered shrines in Uttrakhand. The holy temple is sacred to Goddess Mansa, a form of Shakti emerged from the mind of great Sage Kashyap. Inside the main sanctum of the temple, there are two idols that devotees worship. The view of the city from the temple is breathtaking. To reach the temple, pilgrims could either trek for 3 kilometers or take a ropeway ride, also known as Mansa Devi Udan Khatola.

Chandi Devi: Located at an elevation of 2900 meters, Chandi Devi Temple is perched on Neel Parvat, 4 km away from Haridwar city. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chandi and is believed to be a Siddh Peeth where wishes get fulfilled. As per mythology, Chandika Devi rested on Neel Parvat for a while. Hence the temple was constructed here in 1929 by King of Kashmir, Raja Suchan Singh. However, the idol of Chandi Devi is said to be established by great saint Adi Shankaracharya in 8th century AD. Chandi Devi Temple can be reached by either 4 km steep trek from Haridwar or by Ropeway ride also known as Chandi Devi Udankhatola. The hilltop provides panoramic views of the Haridwar city. It is advised to dress modestly while visiting the temple.

Sightseeing in Rishikesh

Ram Jhula: One of the most visited attractions of Rishikesh, Ram Jhula is located only a few miles downstream from the famous Laxman Jhula. A 750 feet long suspending bridge, it is situated right above river Ganga connecting the shores. Surrounded by the beauty of lush green mountains, it is quite identical to Laxman Jhula in its construction and design. Take a stroll on the bridge and admire the scenic surroundings filled with positivity.

Bharat Mandir: Bharat Mandir is one of the ancient temples of Rishikesh dedicated to Lord Hrishikesh Narayan, who is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Kaliyug. The temple holds a lot of mythological significance, as it is said that five Pandavas along with Draupadi visited here on their way to heaven. Right opposite the main entrance of the temple there is an age-old tree which is actually a combination of three different trees connected to each other through roots. The temple also boats of a museum exhibiting sculptures, pottery and decorated bricks found in the temple premises during excavation.

Parmarth Niketan: Parmarth Niketan is the largest ashram in Rishikesh. This spiritual haven, founded in 1942 is spread over an area of 8 acres. It features a lush green manicured garden, 1000 well-furnished residential rooms, Parmarth Gurukul, Swami Shukdevanand Charitable Hospital, and Parmarth Niketan (a school that provides free education). The ashram also runs various programs for Yoga, tree plantation, organic farming, and sanitation. Daily life in the ashram includes morning prayers, meditation classes, satsangs, and lectures, ending with a peaceful Ganga aarti. Also, the institute organizes free camps for pranayama, stress management, acupressure, Reiki, Ayurveda, and other ancient Indian sciences. Inside the ashram, one can see the 14 feet statue of Lord Shiva and a sacred tree, Kalpavriksha. The ashram also performs sacred Indian wedding ceremonies. It is suggested to dress modestly.

Trymbakeshwar Temple: Trymbakeshwar, a 13 story temple, also popular as the 'Terah Manzil Temple', houses various religious texts along with the deities of all Hindu gods and goddesses. Being the biggest temple in Rishikesh, visitors get attracted to its huge decorative symmetric architecture and intricate designs on the walls and idols. However, mainly the shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. From the topmost floor of the temple, one can see the calm emerald water of Ganges and witness beautiful sunsets. Considered to be more than 400 years old, the temple is believed to be one among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Mahashivratri festival is celebrated wholeheartedly here. It is suggested to dress modestly.

Mall road: Located in the heart of the city, Mussoorie Mall Road stretches from Picture Palace to the Library. It is the main promenade of Mussoorie and known for its shopping avenues, colonial-era architecture and viewpoints. Across the road, there are many shops selling designed candles, trinkets, wooden handicrafts, and etc. SBI Building, Methodist Church and Cambridge book store are some of the famous landmarks on Mall Road. There are many cafes and restaurants on the road serving delicious food. Take a walk around Mall Road and take in the breathtaking view of the mountains.

Kempty Falls: Set amidst high mountain ranges, Kempty Falls was developed by the Britishers in 1835 as a little hideout to enjoy tea. Located about 4,500 feet above the sea level, the milky white streams crash against the boulders before it falls into a jade pool. The pool is surrounded by shacks where one could enjoy food or sit and watch the picturesque view of the falls. Once here, visitors could enjoy swimming and an ample number of activities. To reach the pool of the waterfall, one could either walk or take a ropeway ride.

Jwalaji Temple: Jwalaji or Jwaladevi Temple, one of the highly revered temples in Mussoorie, is dedicated to Goddess Jwalamukhi, the deity of Flaming Mouth. It is considered to be an incarnation of Goddess Durga. 9 km away from Mussoorie, the temple is located at the top of Binog Hill at an altitude of 2,104 meters, in the lap of Shivalik range. Apart from devotees, the temple which is surrounded by lush green forests is a major attraction for nature lovers as well. Constructed against a wooded spur, the temple's dome was glided by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Comfortable shoes are recommended as one needs to walk a bit through the rugged terrain to reach the temple. Dress modestly when you are visiting the temple.
